Abstract:

We read with great interest the recently published case report by Isath et al.1 entitled; ‘Leadless pacemaker used as long-term temporary therapy in Lyme carditis with high-grade atrioventricular block’. They report a novel pacing strategy to manage the unpredictable recovery of the cardiac conduction system in Lyme disease. Increased detection and climate factors have resulted in a marked increase in the global incidence of Lyme disease.2 However, pacing guidelines have yet to adequately address these challenging cases.
