Abstract:
Climate change can drive disease emergence by increasing survival and geographic distributions of pathogens, vectors, and animal reservoir hosts, as well as by affecting human behaviour.3 The risk from climate-sensitive diseases already common in Canada is increasing. For instance, Lyme disease has become endemic in parts of Canada because its vector, the deer tick Ixodes scapularis, has expanded its range, driven by warming that is strongly attributed to human-induced climate change.4
